Organizations to Transform Edgebrook Business District into Neighborhood Block Party in Support of Local Establishments
The Edgebrook Community Association (ECA), Edgebrook Sauganash Chamber of Commerce and Everyday Edgebrook have joined forces to host “Save Our Shops Block Party: Edgebrook Takes Back the Streets” in support of local businesses impacted by ongoing construction on Devon Avenue. Devon Avenue will be closed off between Central and Kinzua for this special event to be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from noon to 6 pm.
Free to attend, the Block Party will feature music, local food, children’s activities and street vendors along with special deals from local businesses. Visitors to storefronts within the entire business district, along Devon and Central, will have an opportunity to be a “Lucky Shopper” and be eligible for special prizes.
“With the on-going construction, the small businesses in our community have been severely impacted and many are facing challenging times, said Jan Kupiec, President of Everyday Edgebrook. “We needed to do something bold to raise awareness of the situation we are in and to bring more people into the business district.”
“We are fortunate to live in a wonderful neighborhood that would be negatively impacted if we lost any of our businesses,” said Jeff Manuel, President of the Edgebrook Community Association. “We need the community to come out in support of this business district that has generously given so much to help our schools and neighborhood nonprofits over the years.”
“We have a wonderful array of stores, restaurants, and services that are the backbone of this community and are ready to serve you,” said Jenny Herren, Executive Director of the Edgebrook Sauganash Chamber of Commerce. “If the construction has kept you away or if you have not had a chance to fully explore our storefronts recently, there is no better time than now.”
