This weeks feature park is Norridge Park District. If you haven't been here yet, it's time to schedule a visit.
Let's talk about the Earl J. Field Memorial Playground. There are two different awesome climbing structures. The Norridge Rocket (pictured above), looks like something out of a storybook or something your kids would dream up, complete with tunnels and slides. This climbing structure is made for kids 5 - 12 years old, but it looked like so much fun that even my 2 year old couldn't resist trying it out (with parental supervision, of course).
The second play area had a little more like a traditional play ground structure and is made for kids ages 2 - 12 years. Luckily my toddler liked this one too. There are plenty of different ways to climb up and slide down, different textures and flexibilities to help kids strengthen their balance and just plain have fun. Both structures are pretty large in size making it easy to play even when there are many kids around.
There are also both adult and toddler swings, but my daughter, who usually loves the swings, was so preoccupied with the climbing structures that we never actually made it onto the swings. In addition to the playground area, the park has tons of other features! There are picnic tables, if you want to bring your lunch and indoor bathrooms in both the Recreation Center and the Fitness Center buildings. There are softball and base ball diamonds, tennis courts, basketball courts, an outdoor volleyball court, an outdoor pool with a water slide and splash pad, a fitness center and more. Norridge Park District is basically all of your park fun in one location. The website also has an awesome feature called the Field & Facility Link that allows you to check current field conditions and see what is open prior to your visit. This is definitely a place where you could spend your day--just be aware that there are fees to use both the pool and fitness center.
