Let's Get James Rollin'!

By Kristie Glascock February 13, 2014
In August of 2009, James was born via emergency c-section due to lack of movement. When James was born, he didn't cry, had a two vessel cord, low muscle tone, but was shaking his arms.  He went to the NICU for further examination and this is what was determined:

~ James had a stroke during the first trimester.
~ James had no suck/swallow reflexe; he has a g-tube to eat.
~ James has Factor V Leiden, which is a blood clotting disorder.
~ James' optic nerve in his left eye never fully developed, and he is extremely far-sighted.
~ James has a chromosome disorder, 22q11.2 duplication, which is an extra copy of a small
        piece of chromosome 22.
~ James has servere reflux, and had Fundoplication surgery to prevent the severe reflux.

Since his NICU stay as an infant, James has been:

~ Diagnosed with a catastrophic form of Epilepsy, Infantile Spasms.
~ Given 10 differnt anti-seizure meds; none of which has worked so far.
~ Diagnosed with Quad Cerebral Palsy, which means all four limbs are affected.

James cannot hold his head up, sit, stand, walk or eat by mouth. He is always hooked up to a monitor to show his O2 levels and his heart rate.  His brain is consistently seizing.  Because of this, he needs frequent suctioning.

James will always need someone with him 24/7, however he does not qualify for nursing assistance. We are dedicated to helping spread the word about a fundraising event to help James' family get a handicap accessible van.
